Turing slip — similar to a Freudian slip, a Turing slip occurs when an AI text engine generates an incorrect phrase or reference to the subject that actually makes sense grammatically (or sarcastically) within the sentence structure. Usually occurs with humorous results, but can also be socially inappropriate or considered offensive
For example, in The Cut article titled, “Ana de Armas Is Kissing a New Man” (1), contained this sentence, “Looks like Ana de Armas has really moved on from her heavily documented fever dream of a relationship with Ben Affleck.” Then a few sentences later the article incorrectly refers to Ben Affleck again with this, “Prior to her rendezvous with the tech guy, de Armas was involved with Sad Affleck after meeting him in 2019 on the set of Deep Water, a film in which they played husband and wife.”
(1) - The Cut, 2024-Nov; [ article link ]; truth may be this could easily have been an intentional reference by a human writer to Ben Affleck, but in any event the sentence still serves as a good example of an AI Turing slip.
